Duties
These positions are located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Solicitor, Division of General Law, Office of the Associate Solicitor, in Washington, D.C.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series/grade to which you are applying.
GS-07
Specialized Experience:
To qualify for the GS-07, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) maintaining a calendar for the office and/or management; 2) utilizing a computer program to finalize correspondence, reports, and/or presentations; 3) managing office supplies by tracking inventory and purchasing new supplies; and 4) assisting in the coordination and processing of travel authorizations and vouchers in accordance with established rules, regulations, and procedures. GS-08
Specialized Experience:
To qualify for the GS-08, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) maintaining a calendar for the office and/or management; 2) utilizing a computer program to format, proofread, edit, and/or finalize correspondence, reports, and/or presentations; 3) uploading finalized documents into an automated document tracking system for processing and/or signature; 4) managing office operating budget by gathering data and purchasing supplies, equipment, and/or services; and 5) coordinating and processing travel authorizations and vouchers and advising staff on travel regulations and procedures.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
