The purpose of the position is to provide comprehensive program and administrative support to the Assistant Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Geriatrics/ECC. Performs work which encompasses a variety of different duties and responsibilities.

Duties

Provides Support for daily operations for a variety of Clinical Affairs and Educational programs Serves as a key member within the Clinical Affairs and Educational program for data management and production of useful reports on an array of issues including: workload trends, productivity, and expenditures. Maintains computerized databases and updates as required. Assists with the inventory management as it relates to expendable supplies as well as equipment. Participates in strategic planning as it relates to the Clinical Affairs and Educational Programs. Provides a wide range of organizational support activities and general assistance to the staff. Serves as liaison between the Designated Education Officer (DEO) and affiliated medical schools including affiliation as programmatic agreement. Serves as a technical expert in matters related to medical student and medical resident registration, processing, orientation, and education tracking. Serves as coordinator of the monitoring and auditing processes for the disbursement agreement. Assists with correspondence to the Office of Academic Affairs and VISN Academic Council including mandatory reports. Assists with the Learners Preceptor Survey including compiling data and providing analysis for quality improvement projects. Prepares, composes, or reviews correspondence for the ACOS. Serves as liaison between the Clinical Affairs Office and the rest of the facility to answer difficult or technical questions regarding the Program functions and desired outcomes. Performs work in support of Clinical Affairs Program and analysis of program effectiveness requiring knowledge of the purpose, operation, methodology, and techniques of the program. Assists with the administration of the credentialing and privileging of the medical staff and licensed independent practice (LIP) program. Responsible documentation for the Professional Standards Board and Chief of Staff. Performs other duties as assigned in relation to the Clinical Affairs Program. Work Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm Monday-Friday Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/20/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. Manual dexterity is required in operation of personal computer and other office equipment.
