The purpose of this position is to serve as the principle strategic advisor to the Squadron Commander on any personnel-related tasks, policies and/or procedures. Provides oversight to Commander Support Staff personnel and functions to ensure the daily execution of operations to include all personnel related and commander directed programs.

Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Operations Command (SPOC) at Buckley Space Force Base is searching for a Commanders Support Specialist NH-0301-02/03. Description: Are you interested in supporting some of the worlds most advanced space and missile technologies in one of the most diverse areas in the country? Come join our team here at Buckley SFB, CO at Space Operations Command. We are located in the city of Colorado Springs at the eastern foot of the Rocky Mountains. The area offers plenty of things to do in between, It lies near glacier-carved Pikes Peak, a landmark in Pike National Forest with hiking trails and a cog railway leading to its 14,114-ft. summit. The city's Garden of the Gods park features iconic red-sandstone formations and mountain views. Serve as the principle strategic advisor to the Squadron Commander on any personnel-related tasks, policies and/or procedures. Provide direction and oversight to Commander Support Staff (CSS) personnel and functions to ensure the daily execution of operations to include all personnel related and commander directed programs. Perform a full range of duties and executes oversight for a variety of special assignments in support of the mission and function of the unit. Plan, direct, organize and exercise control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the 2 SWS CSS and 2 SWS/CC secretary positions. Responsible to the commander for administrative support to over 250 Active Duty, 000 civilian, Canadian Air Forces" British Air Forces, and Australian Air Forces military personnel. Serve as the primary security specialist, administering the physical, information, personnel and industrial security programs as well as serving as the unit's primary Anti-Terrorism (ATO) for the unit. Space Delta 4 Mission -To provide strategic and theater missile warning to the United States and our International Partners. Ideal Candidate: Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of Security program and personnel management to include applicable Equal Opportunity regulations, practices, and procedures. 2. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identifying, considering, and resolving administrative issues or problems (particularly of a procedural nature). 3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct functions, as well as mentor, motivate, and provide feedback to team members on performance of assigned duties. 4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, to make presentations and recommendations to military and civilian personnel at various command levels. 5. Knowledge of DoD, USAF, and USSF structure and chain of command; general knowledge of USSF and USAF operating guidelines. 6. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, briefings, and graphs intended for junior member and senior leader level consumption. 7. Knowledge of information, personnel, and anti-terrorism DoD programs, concepts, and principles to effectively administer unit level requirements for a PL-1 resource. 8. Ability to create and cultivate relationships with subordinates and cultivate relationships outside of the organization for the efficient administration of all administrative and security programs. 9. Knowledge of military and civilian talent management and development programs to promote and develop self and subordinates. 10. Ability to independently plan and carry-out reviews of unit administrative and security programs, evaluate and analyze internal and external reports to make recommendations and implement corrective actions and maintain compliance with HHQ directives. 11. Demonstrated organizational skills for the managing personnel workloads and multiple organizational functions running concurrently. 12. Ability to independently execute fact-finding, problem analysis, problem resolutions, and development of concrete action plans to solve problems. 13. Ability to conduct platform instruction for the purposes of training members on rules, regulations, processes, and requirements of administrative and security programs as applicable.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education/experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, For the OPM qualification standard for the 0301 series please click here and scroll down to the 3rd section titled Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH01, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS 1-4 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include: One year of general experience equivalent to at least the NH-01 grade level in the Federal service which includes: check reports and other documents for correct office and position titles, codes, and symbols, and verify discrepancies with the appropriate office or individual; assist higher level employees in evaluating the success of programs in attaining their production goals. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a Bachelor's degree or equivalent undergraduate degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Business Administration. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification). OR Successfully completed 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement for a four year degree and have one year of experience that includes monitoring the management of records in an organization; Furnish guidance and assistance, channeling efforts to promote mission accomplishment. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification). OR Successfully completed a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Business Administration and have one year of experience that includes assisting leadership in the management of administrative support program functions; monitoring staff initiatives and endeavors to ensure conformity objectives and policy. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification). OR Successfully completed A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related and have one year of experience that includes advising agency leadership on administrative programs and initiatives; assisting in the development of instruction or directives that conform to standing policy. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Have the experience as described above, but less than one year; and I have more than one year but less than the required education above. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
