This position is located in the Phoenix Indian Medical Center, Ambulatory Services, Specialty Clinic. The incumbent serves as Assistant Supervisory Nurse responsible for assisting with all aspects of managing the applicable nursing unit. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing leadership, direction, and technical expertise in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of nursing services for the benefit and provision of safe comprehensive care.
Duties
Works under the direct supervision of the Supervisory Clinical Nurse (SCN) in developing unit goals and objectives that affect the areas of patient care, safety, performance improvement, and infection control.
Participates in developing and updating unit specific guidelines, policies, protocols and other informational materials required to effectively accomplish the mission of the organization.
In the absence of the SCN, assumes the authority and responsibility for supervising the unit.
With guidance from the SCN, coordinates the assignments of staff in the participation of activities that enhance the provision of nursing care within the unit, department and organization. This includes assigning staff to participate in project teams to plan, implement and evaluate
nursing care.
Qualifications

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
OR
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications for the GS-11 grade level stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11 Level: At least one (1) full year of professional nursing specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) such as; Provide leadership, direction, and technical expertise in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of nursing
services for the benefit and provision of safe comprehensive care.
