This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Team lead who takes an analytic approach to analyze topics including operations, Logistics, and the supply chain in the context of materiel and weapon systems performance and efficiency.

Duties

Collaborate with senior decision makers, translating their intent into actionable studies with implementable results. Perform significant studies that have vague guidance, have poorly structured problem statements, and have little available data. Perform studies on operational effectiveness, logistics and supply chain performance, business practices, and efficiencies across a broad enterprise. Analyze critical problems in order to advise leadership of the advantages and disadvantages of various approaches. Utilize advanced quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques and methodologies. Present study plans, results and recommendations with the appropriate level of detail for the intended audience.

Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with operations research, mathematics, providing innovative approaches to analyze item/system performance and investment strategies; evaluating results and integrating them into coherent study reports; and providing advice and guidance on technical interpretation and application analytical discovery. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
