This position is located in the Office of Visitor Experience and Evaluation (DD-VE), in the Office of External Affairs and Audience Engagement. The primary purpose of this position is to manage daily service operations at the front- of- house, effectively uniting DD-VE staff and volunteers towards the mutual goal of an excellent service experience for guests of the museum.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-0301-09. For this position, specialized experience is at least 1 year of general experience as a GS-7; managing daily service operations for an organization where staff and visitor experience are the focal point in the organization’s operations. If asked to do so, cite specific examples of employment or experience contained in your resume and describe how this experience has prepared you to successfully perform the duties of this position. DO NOT write "see resume" in your application! Those applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be evaluated against these factors to determine the best-qualified candidates. Knowledge in performing as a supervisor, reviewing employee performance and scheduling of employees. Knowledge in planning and implementing logistics for numerous programs and events, manages scheduling systems and other Gallery technology. Knowledge of operational and administrative components for a department. Strong understanding of and experience in customer service sufficient to serve as a highly visible front of house gallery representative to the general public.  "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration under merit promotion procedures. CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
