The incumbent is a Laborer and receives assignments from the Building Maintenance Supervisor. Work assignments include mowing grass, working shrubs and flower beds, planting and transplanting trees, shrubs and flowers, etc.; moving furniture and office equipment; removal of debris, limbs, and other trash; excavating, back-filling, etc.; and maintaining tools and equipment in first-class condition.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Lifting, moving, loading and unloading of equipment, furniture, materials, debris, trash, etc. Hauling materials to and from job sites such as dirt, shrubs, pine straw, etc. Excavating, dismantling and removing in connection with projects and other work. Maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment and assigned space, including but not limited to checking oil, changing spark plugs and sharpening blades. Other related duties as assigned, such as mixing and placing concrete, filling holes in pavement and cleaning of sidewalks with pressure washers. Work Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday Position Description Title/PD#: Laborer/PD16236A Physical Requirements: The incumbent is frequently required to perform heavy lifting and moving objects over 50 pounds. The incumbent is required to perform work such as digging ditches and trenches in extremely hard compacted clay and dirt. Uses have 90-pound jack hammers to break up asphalt and concrete. The incumbent is required to perform work which requires using both hands, standing for long periods of time, walking for long periods of time, mowing, stooping, squatting, etc.
