The Program Support Assistant is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System in the Medical Service. The primary purpose of the Resident/Medical Student Coordinator is to provides the necessary and vital oversight for the training and compliance documentation for the Medicine Service.

The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Tracks documentation compliance, to ensure all notes / reports are completed within medical center guidelines.
Coordinates resident and medical student schedules, ensures that training and access to computer programs is appropriately authorized and training occurs in a timely / efficient manner to facilitate the goals of the service.
Serves as the Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC) for Medicine Services and manages various data basis for the service.
Performs the following types of duties: edits / composes letters and reports, reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, develops standard or form letters and replies to inquiries.
Screens all calls and visitors, answering most questions and completing most business involving established policy or routine matters without referring people to the supervisor.
Provides general office supplies and equipment support services such as obtaining standard office supplies and services, procuring or justifying the full range of office services.
Serves as a liaison for Personnel Security Verification (PIV) processes and or serves as Personnel Security Verification Sponsor.
Performs timekeeping for assigned Time and Leave (T&L's) and provide backup timekeeping coverage for other T&Ls.
Serves as one of the Talent Management System (TMS) Coordinator for the service, allowing him/her to assign and approve training, as necessary.
Establishes and maintains ongoing relationships / communication with Loma Linda University Medical Center School of Medicine and other training teaching institutions.
Work Schedule: Monday Through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; etc. The employee must be able to operate a phone, computer and be competent with several different computer systems including but not limited to VISTA, scheduling packages, CPRS, Microsoft office, Excel etc.

GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: security information, computer documentations, training methods, resident clinics, medicine specialty services, medical terminology, and medical record information system.
