Environmental Management Services of the New Jersey Health Care System is looking to hire a Maintenance Worker at the Lyons Campus.Incumbent performs duties of a general mechanic (minor maintenance type tasks) throughout areas of the station(s) for which Environmental Management Service/Guest Relations has responsibility.
Duties
General Duties include but not limited to:
Incumbent measures, cuts, and constructs or repairs wood or wood substitute items and furniture.
Applies standard measurements and specifications, aided by clear and specific instructions, templates, precut, or preplanned materials. Applies a general knowledge of wood, composite materials, wood substitutes, and woodworking techniques as well as basic shop math to plan, measure, and layout materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications.
- Hanging pictures and other decorations.
- Maintenance and minor repairs to office and patient furniture.
- Maintenance and minor repairs to picture frames and other decorative items.
- Installing standard curtain rods and traverse rods.
- Removing and installing pull shades, blinds, and other window treatment.
- Removing, replacing, and maintaining all cubicle curtains and draperies throughout the medical center.
- Moving small items of furniture.
- Lubricating such items as chair rollers and wheel bearings.
- Installing bulletin boards, display boards and tack boards.
- Arranging and displaying seasonal decorations.
- Maintaining and distributing clocks.
- Maintaining storage areas.- Installing and repairing toilet tissue, soap, and other dispensers.
- Picking up materials from Warehouse for Environmental Management Service and transferring to Interior Design/EMS Storage Areas.
Incumbent visits the following Community Based Out-Patient Clinics (CBOCs) once a month or as directed by the Paint Shop Foreman: Brick, Elizabeth, Hackensack, Hamilton, Jersey City, Morristown, Paterson, Piscataway, Tinton Falls and Newton.
Incumbent may be directed to perform housekeeping aid duties when necessary and as assigned.
Work Schedule: 7am - 3:30pm, including weekend and holidays

Physical Requirements: Walking, pushing carts, stooping, bending, lifting light loads and small pieces of furniture for sustained periods is required by the incumbent. He/she works at work sites, on ladders, overhead, and in cramped or awkward positions. Occasionally may be required to lift and carry items that weigh up to forty (40) pounds, unassisted. Use manual or portable power tools for extended periods in uncomfortable positions.
