This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Medium Range Recovery (MRR) Programmed Depot Maintenance (PDM) Branch, MRR Product Line Division, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Duties
This position's primary purpose is to perform aircraft mechanic journey level work.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:

- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- The applicant is subject to pre-appointment and random drug testing.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Rotating shift work may be required.
- Occasional Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) may be required.
- Subject to overtime or recall.
- May be required to fly on Coast Guard aircraft.
Qualifications
Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
- Ability to do the work without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT ELEMENT)- Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc.- Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading)- Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment- Use of measuring instruments- Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)- TroubleshootingNational Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
