About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Emergency Services, Police/Provost Marshall Division, Game Warden section in Fort Hood, Texas. Fort Hood rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.

Duties

Plan, coordinate, and conduct the enforcement program of Federal, State, and installation fish and wildlife regulations. Ensure physical security measures are in effect in remote areas of the installation for the protection of Government property, endangered or threatened species, and cultural / archeological protected/sensitive sites. Conduct community relations activities, briefings, tours and other functions, which enhance appreciation of wildlife, promotes a positive attitude and public awareness of fish, game laws and regulations. Perform duties designed and mandated to provide controlled and safe hunting activities. Conduct full range of difficult and complex law enforcement activities such as surveillance, interviewing witnesses, interrogating suspects, searching for and the collection of physical evidence. Coordinate with local Natural Resources office to ensure that Conservation Law Enforcement activities are fully integrated within the Installation's plans.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Secret Background Investigation.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy (USACPA) or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
  • Successfully graduate from the United States Army Military Police School (USAMPS), Conservation Law Enforcement Officer Course within one year of assignment
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must take and pass an initial Physical Agility Test (PAT) and annually thereafter.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must meet all requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs and is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • The incumbent must successfully complete a certified Texas Hunters Safety Instructors Course.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) certification.
  • This position requires the incumbent to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
  • Must successfully pass training/certification/qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions. These include: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
