These positions are with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Office of Trust Services, Division of Wildland Fire Management located at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC). One position will be located in Boise, ID and the other location is negotiable. Information about Boise can be found at https://www.boisechamber.org/
The duty location is in Boise, ID; Albuquerque, NM; Eagle Butte, SD; Lakewood, CO; Missoula, MT. Relocation authorized for persons going to Boise, ID.
Duties
Duties listed are at the GS-9 full performance level.
Serves as the principal office manager for the Division of Wildland Fire Management (DWFM), ensuring that the practices and procedures are consistent with those of the Administrative program.
Develops, implements, and recommends changes to administrative procedures and methods.
Responds to inquiries and administrative problems brought to staff and officials.
Serves as liaison between the Administrative Officer, subordinate staff offices, and numerous other organizations.
Receives all correspondence for the and replies to mail not requiring the official’s attention.
Keeps alert to activities within the organization and serves as a source of information on facts and situations.
Provides support with purchasing supplies using a charge card.
Serves as primary timekeeper.
Works with budget personnel to ensure funding and encodes requisitions into the financial system.
Serves as a primary Records Management Coordinator.
Uses automated equipment (hardware, software) for word processing, file management, creating/compiling special reports, electronic mail, and other applications necessary for the support and management of office operations.
Arranges conferences and plans meetings.
Requirements

Qualifications
Selective Placement Factors (SPFs):
This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. Those who do not provide evidence they possess the following selective factor(s) will be rated not qualified:
Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Specialized Experience:

For GS-08: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:
Prepared and reviewed correspondence for conformance with unit policy, grammatical accuracy, and appearance;
Arranged travel and accommodations and processed travel authorizations and vouchers;
Purchased supplies and materials according to financial and property policies and used specialized financial systems, such as QuickTime;
Used computer programs such as electronic folder systems, electronic calendars, word processing, and other office software to complete daily tasks.
For GS-09: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:
Performed routine and non-routine administrative procedural work of the office and coordinated a wide variety of office administrative tasks;
Provided advice and guidance to subordinate staff offices and administrative assistances in those offices concerning implementation of administrative policies;
Handled incoming calls and/or visitors independently, exercising discretion and judgment in responding to requests for information from higher-level staff or organizations (both internal and external);
Oversaw and was responsible for the establishment and maintenance of high-level supervisor's records and files.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604.
