The incumbent of the versatile position provides a variety of services to the Business Office at the Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System (NWIHCS). The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Eligibility and Enrollment Supervisor.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Flexible to undertake a variety of miscellaneous administrative duties.
Coordinate unit activities and follow up with clinical and administrative team members.
Participation in special work projects assigned by supervisor or designees.
Regularly assists co workers as needs arise.
Data collection is essential to proper processing of first and third party collection requirements as mandated by law. The recovery aspects of this position have a direct impact on the VERA allocations to the Medical Center.
Obtains all key information needed, including but not limited to complete and accurate demographic information, health insurance information, workers compensation information, etc.
Initiates and completes all administrative processing of requests and forms including but not limited to applications for care, financial statements.
Work Schedule: Monday -Friday 0600-1430 (Work hours will be further discussed during interview)

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/09/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
GS-06 Specialized Experience Requirements: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing transportation support duties such as coordinating connections/scheduling, documenting travel information; collecting, compiling, and tracking data on a daily basis; Performs a basic analysis of data and generates a variety of reports; entering data into automated tracking data bases; and planning and directing a program that provides support services.

Physical Requirements: Employee will be exposed to stressful working situations that require a professional attitude and collective reasoning. The employee is subject to a high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever-changing demands due to program changes.
Work Environment: Duties will be predominantly performed in the Veteran Transportation Service program office with intermittent trips to various locations throughout the Medical Center's catchment area both in and near patient care areas where there may be risk of exposure to disease.
