Duties
Provides administrative and technical support to the Labor and Employee Relations (LER) programs in the DFAS Human Resources Directorate.
Serves as the point of contact regarding Length of Service awards for the Agency, ensuring timely generation of awards and procurement of recognition items; coordinates with organization and site contacts to ensure delivery of recognition.
Serves as Agency point of contact for Unemployment Compensation claims. Researches employment records and provides information to State agencies regarding employment, pay history and terms of separation.
Prepares a variety of correspondence, recurring/ad hoc reports in support of assigned programs and LER mission. Extracts data from multiple sources for use in pivot tables, charts and graphs used in reporting, training or briefing materials.
Assembles disciplinary and performance casefiles, responds to requests for information for Merit System Protections Board appeals, arbitrations, EEO complaints and more.
Serves as official records custodian for the division.
Serves as a back-up purchase card holder for HR performing a full range of associated responsibilities to ensure proper legal purchase, and maintenance of casefiles in accordance with Agency procedures.

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is described as providing administrative or technical support involving employment or compensation records to include updating and verifying employment or position data or records in an automated system, assessing basic system or procedural issues related to the processing or auditing of a variety of personnel or payroll actions or records; and applying problem-solving skills in order to assess and resolve customer inquiries regarding basic employment or compensation related processes or procedures impacting personnel data, appointments, compensation or benefits.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or higher grade in Federal Service.

Education
GS-06 Substitution of Education for Experience: Six months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required
when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled.
