About the Position: Serve as an Operations Research Analyst conducting analyses. Develops analytical and technical input to assessments, plans, and reports.
Duties
Conduct data analysis, using tools and techniques such as statistical inference, data mining, trend analysis, modeling, mathematical programming, and simulations.
Adapt mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques to develop assessment plans regarding readiness initiatives.
Analyze and evaluate advanced proposals to satisfy program and mission objectives, resolves unusually critical problems overcomes technical difficulties.
Refine processes and develops tools to assist senior decision makers across DAMO-SO to include the Civilian Protection Center of Excellence (CP CoE).
Integrate and develop mathematical, statistical, and other automated system models for identification, collection, storage, and analysis of data used to support assigned projects and studies.
Identify and evaluate cost and budgetary or fiscal factors that impact various programs and weighs cost relationships when developing models and alternative solutions.
Develop linear or multivariate programming models to optimize development projections.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- IAW DoD 8570-01-M, within 6 months the incumbent must obtain and maintain Level 2 Information Assurance Management (IAM) certification.

Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing analytical models and methods; identify actual or potential problem areas, trends, and similar factors to improve agency program operations and management systems; simulating a process, developing a detailed model of the most critical features of the process. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
