The Office of Inspector General is an independent office within the EPA that helps the agency protect the environment in a more efficient & cost effective manner. We perform audits, evaluations, & investigations of the EPA to promote economy, efficiency, and to prevent and detect fraud, waste and abuse. We strive to provide solutions to problems that ultimately result in making America a cleaner and healthier place.
Duties
The EPA OIG is seeking law students for a volunteer internship. This position is provided for law students with a desire to work in the public sector and assignments are designed to complement the individual’s educational field while meeting the expressed needs of the agency and EPA OIG organizations.

Qualifications
To be eligible for an internship opportunity you must meet the following criteria:
You must be a current student enrolled at least half time in:
A qualifying educational institution pursuing a degree, or a graduate or professional school(e.g., law school, medical school), or a post-secondary home-school curriculum that has beenaccredited by an accrediting body recognized by the Secretary of the U.S. Department ofEducation); or
A certificate program means post-secondary education, in a qualifying educationalinstitution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of anaccredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum; or
Students who take online courses are eligible to participate so long as all other requirementsare met and the school is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education.
Acceptance of applications for this announcement will be limited to first-year (second semester), second, and third-year law students.
You must have a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least a 2.0.
You must be at least 16 years of age.
*A transcript showing proof of current enrollment is required to be submitted with your application package. Prior to onboarding, proof of enrollment for the semester of your volunteer service is required to verify your eligibility status as a Student.**
The Ideal Candidate for the Student Volunteer Legal position will have education of and/or experience with law. The candidate must possess strong research and writhing skills to be able to conduct legal research and prepare reports of their findings. The ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both effectively orally and in writing. Experience with office automation systems (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is desired.
