The Tennessee Valley Healthcare System provides care in various settings. The Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) Training Program Social Work Coordinator is responsible for a diverse range of activities involving support, growth, and maintenance in PMDB training by planning, developing, implementing and overseeing all components program. The coordinator will need to be currently or become certified in all levels of PMDB and be able to achieve the status of master trainer.
Duties
Administers information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of program services provided to all TVHS employees.
Develops and implements information systems to track service education and prevention activities. Develops, implements, and evaluates clinical guidelines and protocols to establish appropriate utilization of services.
Collaborates with facility leadership and Quality & Performance to ensure facility policies are compliant with The joint Commission (TJC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements regarding workplace violence prevention training. This includes preparation of reviews and submission of national reports regarding assignment and completion of PMDB training.
Demonstrates skill to plan, organize, direct work, and negotiate effectively with management.
Coordinates and collaborates in assignment of Part 1 of PMDB training to all employees within 90 days of hire. Coordinates with all service lines in the assignment of additional Parts of PMDB training to employees based on the facility's annual Workplace Behavioral Risk Assessment (WBRA).
Partners with additional service lines to track training assignments and completions for all facility staff .
When appropriate, involves staff supervisors and managers to assure compliance with training requirements
Submits training plans, assignments, and completion to the VHA Central Off ice (VACO) PMDB Program instructions.
Documents and tracks the levels of each PMDB Facility Trainer is certified to teach, and ensures they teach enough classes each year to maintain training skills.
Coordinates space and human resources sufficient to conduct facility trainings throughout the year.
Completes all appropriate documentation for local conference approval and travel necessary to implement the PMDB program.
Ensures access to all available PMDB training curriculum ad training tools is available to Facility Trainers and Master Trainers.
Serves as a member of the Disruptive Behavior Board, completes a minimum of two Category 1 Behavioral Patient Record Flag and Order of Behavioral Restriction rereviews per month, provides coverage for the Chef of the Disruptive Behavior Board during absences, and attends all regularly scheduled meetings of the Disruptive Behavior Board.
Serves as an advisory member of the Violence in the Workplace Workgroup and attends all regularly scheduled meetings of this workgroup. Completes annual Workplace Behavioral Risk Assessment, serves as a member of the WBRA Workgroup, and coordinates with VA Police to complete the annual facility WBRA.
Performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning, and assessment of various programs associated with the scope of PMDB.
Responsible for key project activities related to the planning, development, and implementation of the project components.
Incumbent will demonstrate skill in both oral and written communication with a wide variety of individuals throughout all parts of the organization.
Willingly accepts additional and special assignments that are necessary to meet program goals or Veteran needs.

Qualifications
Experience/Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs.
(a) Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
(b) Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program.
(c) Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program.
(d) Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s).
(e) Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice.
Assignment. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and variety and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. Program coordinators at the GS 12grade level are administratively responsible for a clinical program providing treatment to Veterans in a major specialty area, such as but not limited to: Spinal Cord Injury, Homeless Continuum Veteran Program, Hospice and Palliative Care Program, Suicide Prevention Program, Veterans Justice Outreach, Caregiver Support Program and Community Nursing Home Program. The program coordinator may be the sole practitioner in this specialty at the facility and typically provide direct patient care services in the program area. The program coordinator oversees the daily operation of the program, develop policies and procedures for program operation, and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They may be responsible for the program's budget, developing and monitoring staff compliance with practice, standards and guidelines on documentation, workload, data entry, ethical practice and service delivery. The program coordinator provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data and computerized programs to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service. They may be responsible for, or contribute to, the program's resource and fiscal management, monitoring control points developing the annual budget, operating within that budget, and accounting for appropriated funds. The program coordinator is administratively responsible for the clinical programming and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They provide leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for assigned staff . They initiate and conduct a variety of program or service audits and complete designated clinical practice audits and reports, including productivity assessments. They oversee program operations and evaluations, identifying areas for improvement, gathering relevant data, assessing the data, developing and implementing ideas for improvement and evaluating efficacy of improvement eff orts.]
If the incumbent is LCSW or equivalent, must be ale to provide clinical supervision for Social Workers seeking the licensure. Must be verified by the licensing board of the state where the license is awarded.
Education
Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work.
