You will serve as a Production Controller (Ships) in the Scheduling Office (Code 377), Operations Department of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will develop, maintain, and integrate the work identified for each ship, project, or crane by sequencing and scheduling work to support assigned project. You will assist maintenance managers in the managing and planning of the maintenance and modernization of aircraft carrier projects by providing technical responses and corrective plans for short-fused maintenance deficiencies. You will integrate nuclear and non-nuclear production, planning, and test phases of the overhaul or availability into an availability schedule. You will analyze and monitor the progress of the overhaul or availability and provide assistance or direction to resolve schedule problems. You will review schedules for proper technical sequence and verify proper time is allotted for testing. You will assist in developing high level planning, work identification, and execution strategies incorporating lessons learned from previous projects. You will coordinate with other shipyard shops and codes supporting the overhaul or availability.

  • This position may require work onboard ships and may include climbing stairs or ladders and entry into industrial work areas.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector scheduling and integrating production work for ship or submarine maintenance, overhaul, or repair projects, ensuring the various phases (such as: shipboard work, shop production work, technical document preparation, testing) are sequenced and prioritized to mitigate scheduling conflicts.
