This position is organizationally aligned under the Clinical Informatics/ Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (RRTP) Department at the James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC). Domiciliary Assistants perform both clinical and administrative duties in support of the mission of the RRTP.
Duties
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Conducts Environment of Care and Safety Rounds.
Conducts breathalyzers and collects specimens per program policy.
Conducts searches of patients' lockers, belongings, furnishings upon suspicion of harmful materials or illicit drugs.
Responsible for monitoring Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and documenting the CCTV findings.
Ensures suitable documentation of team activities regarding patients, records and coordinates issues with all team members.
Shows the ability to work with patients with physical, mental, emotional and behavior problems.
Provides crisis interventions in medical, psychiatric and behavioral situations.
Monitors compliance with MH RRTP regulations, Communicates and documents findings to treatment team.
Ensures documentation and acts in compliance with defined guidelines, incidents report, initiates Basic Life Support (BLS), and irregular discharges.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Shifts are as follows: 7:30am - 4pm, 3:30pm - 12am, 12am - 8am. Position requires flexibility in working weekends and holidays.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/07/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Specialized Experience: You must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of a Domiciliary Assistant Position. Specialized experience includes: performing regular and random health and welfare inspections of both public areas and resident rooms to detect contraband and unsecured medications; performing daily inspections of resident rooms; conducting orientation to the program and check-ins after Veterans return from pass; assisting in preparing forms for patient activities such as patient handbook and orientation packets, clearances, and discharges; conducting breathalyzers and collecting specimens per program policy; working with residents who have a variety of physical, mental, emotional and behavior problems using different techniques; developing and maintaining a therapeutic professional helping relationship with residents; providing crisis intervention in situations of a medical, psychiatric and/or behavioral nature.
Preferred Experience: Completion of CPR training to include Personal Protective Equipment and the Automatic Electronic Defibrillator.

Physical Requirements: The work is basically sedentary, but a great deal of walking to all parts of the Medical Facility is required since the incumbent will be working with a variety of clinical and administrative services.
