About the Position: Serves as a strategic Public Affairs (PA) Planner responsible for developing and executing PA programs and campaigns that leverage all available communications conduits, and emerging technologies to most effectively communicate the Army story to diverse audiences and centers of influence. Position is located in Arlington, VA.
Duties
Use automated research capabilities in evaluating effectiveness of strategic communications initiatives.
Coordinate information programs for sensitive issues that must be brought quickly to the attention of key audiences.
Plan public communication campaigns in support of major organizational missions.
Write and edit strategic communication products that directly support organizational priorities and engagements.
Ensure strategic communication and public affairs initiatives provide a comprehensive view of Army priorities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employee may occasionally be required to work non-traditional hours, work weekends and holidays, or perform shift work.
- Assigned shifts could be a variation of 8 hours and may include nights and weekends. Night work hours must generally be performed between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- One year trial period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting communication research to synchronize communication efforts; analyzing trends in public opinion to determine organizational needs; planning and/or developing communication campaigns in support of missions; and developing master messages regarding organizational positions and rationale. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
