This position is located at the National Headquarters of the USDA Forest Service. The incumbent of this position will serve as as the National Web Manager for the Washington Office and is responsible for web activities focused on intra-agency coordination, design, management, policy and overall improvement of the Forest Service's web presence. Duties

You will provide policy consultation and technical assistance to web mangers and publishers responsible for maintaining web pages or sites at the Forest Service. You will manage the overall structure, including content, design, graphics, images, text and links for the headquarters website. You will evaluate and investigate potentially useful web technologies and trends, how they apply to the federal sector and could be used by the Forest Service. You will maintain records and suspense status reports for all projects/programs and monitors status of ongoing projects. You will serve as the Forest Service’s representative at meetings with federal working groups and seminars designed to arrive at solutions to mutual problems encountered.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-13: You must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the majority of the following: Evaluating the effectiveness of a public affairs and/or communications program; contributing to long-range plans and developing new methods and techniques in communicating with various groups; researching complex natural resources agency programs and developing communication materials using various tools and techniques, such as press releases, opinion editorials, multimedia, digital media and web and social media; researching and analyzing controversial programs, assessing public reaction and developing appropriate communication strategies, information materials, campaigns, and programs. Identifying, developing, and managing content for websites, social media, and video communication campaigns; coordinating with the web management team and providing direction for upgrades and changes to external website. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
