About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Research and Development Center (ERDC), Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory, Flood and Storm Protection Division, Coastal Observation and Analysis Branch (COAB) and is located at the Field Research Facility (FRF) in Duck, North Carolina. https://www.erdc.usace.army.mil/Locations/CHL/FRF/

Duties

Provide customer service and communicate clearly and interact via face-to-face, telephone, email, and other modes of communication. Respond to phone, fax, email, and other correspondence. Organize and prepare approval material for processes such as conferences, official correspondence, training, foreign visitors, and foreign travel as required. You will prepare, process, and post travel orders, government vehicle requests, and travel vouchers for Branch staff. Pull reports and verify time and attendance using the automated Corps of Engineers Financial Management System (CEFMS), ensuring availability of funds, creating labor codes and ensuring accurate timekeeping and leave reporting by staff. Maintain leave, travel, and telework status of all branch members on a shared calendar. Help maintain conference room and operational calendars. You will also use Microsoft Outlook and Teams, and/or other similar tools, to coordinate and schedule branch activities, meetings, activities as required. Maintain branch files as required by applicable regulations. You will format, print, route and mail documents and correspondence as requested. Maintain a government purchase card to support branch purchasing needs. You will use automated Purchase Request and Commitments (PRandC's) to order supplies. Complete all training requirements required of the position and its responsibilities by the communicated deadlines.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DK-0303-3 (equivalent to GS-6 to GS-7). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion.
