About the Position: Join us at the United States Southern Command. We provide direct support to a four-star unified Combatant Commander, but are compact enough that our staff also works with senior leadership representatives of our inter-service, inter-agency and (public and private) international partner organizations. Our contribution to furthering our country's relationships with South and Central American nations and peoples are substantial.
Duties
Serve as Human Resources Specialist (Military) in the US Southern Command, Manpower and Personnel Directorate, Military Personnel Division, Army Desk.
Provide guidance regarding a wide variety of military personnel management programs, to include officer and enlisted requisitions, curtailments, extensions; casualty operations; separations; retirement services, and personnel actions.
Implement the administration of a variety of staff assignments in various Military Human Resources program areas.
Participate in the implementation and administration of a variety of staff assignments in various MHR program areas.
Remain current on all Army regulations, instructions, guidelines, and principles- relating to areas of expertise to advise the Chief of Military Personnel.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires local, long distance and overseas travel to events.
- Incumbent must comply with DoD Foreign Clearance Guide, US Southern Command, US Army South, JTFs, and US MILGRP requirements for entry into and operations in country.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in 1) Briefing leadership on military personnel programs and providing specific guidance on the full spectrum of military personnel management. 2) Overseeing Enlisted and Officer Strength Management and evaluation of assignments to critical positions within the organization. 3) Tracking and managing awards, evaluations, promotions, separations, assignments, and personnel record files. 4) Writing professional documents utilizing computer programs to share information via Sharepoint, MS Teams or similar software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
