About the Position: Serves as the Personnel Support Services Specialist for the U.S. Total Army Personnel Command, Deputy Chief of Staff for Resource Management Directorate (G-8). Performs effective and efficient administrative work related to office and correspondence management, personnel management, training management, logistical support management, security management, records management, and forms and publications management.

Duties

Maintain comprehensive databases to provide information used in making organization decisions and in preparing reports. Oversee a program consisting of a variety of functions including incoming/outgoing correspondence, records management, publications/forms management, administrative standard and operating procedures. Provide regulatory advice, guidance, and assistance regarding authorized leave, work schedules, workman's compensation, awards, health and life insurance benefits and open seasons, on-the-job injuries, etc. Work directly with management and civilian personnel pertaining to all aspects of personnel management, reorganization/realignment, organization structuring, position management, and manpower utilization.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Experience in processing a variety of personnel actions, travel, budget execution, payroll, records management, and maintaining manpower documents. Experience recommending solutions to problems organizational staffing, administrative procedures, work processes, or workload distribution. Experience as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) liaison for the Defense Civilian Pay System (DCPS), Defense Finance and Accounting System (DFAS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definition(s) below:1) Education alone: Education may be substituted for specialized experience with a Ph.D. (or equivalent graduate degree), 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M (if related).2) Combination of education and specialized experience:

A combination of education and specialized experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 2 years by 18. Add the 2 percentages. Note: For the purpose of qualifications, 1 full year of graduate education is equivalent to 18 semester hours.

Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute for experience.
