RANGE OF DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Review Military Construction (MILCON) facility design documentation and provide expert technical analysis to determine whether essential facility systems are nuclear certification compliant.
Review technical analysis performed by others for technical sufficiency and efficacy with respect to nuclear certification.
Prepare briefings and reports (especially Technical Nuclear Surety Analysis reports) related to facility nuclear certification and answer technical inquiries.
Participate as a technical expert in Nuclear Certification Working Group meetings.
Review MILCON facility design data and construction changes (submittals, deferred designs, Requests for Information, etc) and assess compliance with nuclear safety and compatibility requirements.
Proactively establish and grow relationships with relevant MILCON (Air Force Civil Engineering Center, US Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Facility Engineering Command) and program organizations within the nuclear enterprise community with the purpose of sharing information resulting in timely nuclear certification compliant facility construction and modification.
Clearly and effectively communicate technical results, strategies, and team objectives to leadership.
Proactively develop and present technical briefings and reports to program stakeholders and senior leaders.
As an engineer on a multi-disciplinary team, provide technical expertise to include tracking progress, evaluating work products, supporting missions, and facilitating process development/improvement initiatives.
SKILLS:
Background in civil engineering, structural engineering, and or essential facility systems including but not limited to lightning protection systems, heating ventilation and cooling, fire protection, electrical power, physical security, and lifting devices is required.
Ability to problem solve through innovative approaches is required.
Background or experience in facility design and construction engineering, weapon systems storage or handling, or other nuclear operations is highly valued.
Knowledge of facility nuclear certification processes and organizations is highly valued.
Experience evaluating program Performance Work Statements or Statements of Work for studies or reports related to nuclear certification requirements is valued.
Resourcefulness, ability to work in a team, and initiative are valued.
Operational ICBM, bomber, or other strategic weapon system experience is valued.
Experience using analytical engineering tools, writing technical products, and presenting technical results and strategy is valued.

- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management “Practitioner” certification category within required timeframe after appointment.
- This is an Air Force Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.

- In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee may be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. This position may require up to 25% Travel.
- Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
- Incumbent may be required to report to work during base exercises, contingencies, or emergency situations and overtime/comp time/credit hours may be required to accomplish assigned duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
2. Knowledge of development engineering methodologies sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
3. Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management principles, concepts, policies, and systems.
4. Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; of standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and of other engineering disciplines used in support of sustainment, modification, and maintenance programs.
5. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches; to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes; and to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, form conclusions, and devise and recommend solutions to problems.
