Duties

Review timber sale contract and pre-sale data to determine that prerequisites to contract work have been completed for timber sale. Review plans and schedules with purchasers to assure understanding of conditions and responsibilities of the timber sale contract. Ensure contractual obligations are met prior to performing final field inspection for closure of a timber sale contract. Perform field inspections and control of purchaser operations for a timber sale program. Monitor and control logging operations to comply with long-range goals for land management and resource protection. Identify and verify the land status and environmental constraints affecting the layout of the proposed timber sale. Keep supervisor informed of major problems regarding Timber Sale Administration. Report possible violations of log accountability procedures to supervisor or leadership. Prepare written reports of timber sale inspections to ensure contract compliance for a timber sale program. Prepare or review documents such as preliminary logging plans or Environmental Assessment reports in support of timber sales.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. For more information on the qualifications for this position, visit the Office of Personnel Management's General Schedule Qualification Standards. Your application and resume must clearly show that you possess the experience requirements. Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement: GS-08. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07. Examples include: Performed limited timber sale preparation duties and collected timber presale information data; Monitored and inspected timber sales with conventional contract requirements and conditions; Interpreted and explained timber sale contract provisions to the timber operator; and Inspected ongoing timber sales for compliance with contract clauses. GS-9. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08. Examples include: Performed timber sale preparation duties and collected timber presale information data; Administered timber sale contracts with conventional contract requirements and conditions; Monitored and inspected timber sale operations having conventional contract requirements and conditions; and Prepared written reports of all sale inspections and made follow-ups on deficiencies. GS-10. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09. Examples include: Administered timber sale contracts; Identified resource concerns on the ground and coordinated applicable corrective measures; Performed timber sale preparation duties and collected timber presale information data as well as completing appraisals of timber sales and selecting of contract provisions based on NEPA documents; and Conducted cruises of timber stands to determine volume of merchantable timber, species composition, accessibility, and environmental constraints. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience.
