About the Position: This position is located at U.S. Army Medical Command Headquarters located Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. The Training Technician (Emergency Medical Service) conducts periodic site assistance visits to MSTC sites globally located to ensure compliance with all course administrative and program of instruction (POI)standards. This is a TERM NTE 4 Years position. This is an Obligated position.

Duties

Processing requests for recertification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Assists combat medics and other National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians cardholders in obtaining continuing education units required to meet specific regulatory requirements. Assists the Accreditation team in developing and maintaining Army Emergency Medical Service site code approval. Conducts periodic site visits as part of the Emergency Medical Service staff.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
  • This is an Obligated position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes understanding of medical training requirements and/or duties equivalent to a Combat Medic. Assisting National Registry of Emergency Medical (NREMT) cardholders with obtaining continuing education to meet regulatory requirements. Experience conducting visits to training sites to ensure program compliance and regulatory training standards. Working closely with internal and external personnel dealing with accreditation, evaluation, and quality assurance of a training program. Assisting with managing a training program, reviewing, and processing course materials and training requests. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Education and Training Program AdministrationQuality AssuranceTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
