About the Position: Serve as a calibration specialist in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, nucleonic, optical/laser, physical and dimensional standards and measurements applicable to the calibration, certification and evaluation of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

Duties

Provide calibration traceable through the Calibration Laboratory and the Primary Standards Laboratory to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Provide information on test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) accuracy's and uncertainties under a variety of conditions. Perform repairs incidental to calibration as required by equipment specifications. Provide metrology information for a wide variety of general purpose of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 50 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
