You will serve as a Maintenance Worker in the NAVFAC-SW, Public Works Business Line. This position is located in the Production Division, Facilities Sustainment Branch, Emergency Services.

Duties

You will operate portable power tools (e.g., drills, routers, nail guns, electric hammers, skill saws, portable table saws, circular saws, sanders, joiners) for woodworking and carpentry jobs. You will construct woodworking materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications. You will perform drywall patching, painting, and touch-up painting of equipment surfaces to treat rust or to provide preventative protection coatings over repair work. You will use tools and equipment associated with painting (e.g., paintbrushes, rollers, scrapers, spray guns, wire brushes, putty knives, sandpaper) to prepare surfaces. You will match colors according to specific instructions from higher graded painter or in accordance with manufacturer's directions.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Preparing surfaces, framing, and installing drywall using spackling, compound, taping and sanding; 2) Preparing, protecting, and painting metal surfaces using electronic and spray devices; 3) Preparing floor surfaces and applies finishing materials using floor sanders, hand tools, brushes, rollers, and other standard equipment.
