This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the OFFICE OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT. As a Physical Scientist (Senior Material Program Manager- Interdisciplinary), you will provide oversight and direction for the material life cycle, including qualification of potential sources and establishment of production contracts, and the management of supplier and material manufacturing process changes and performance.
Duties
As a Physical Scientist (Senior Material Program Manager- Interdisciplinary), you will:
Be responsible for management of the material life cycle, including qualification of potential sources and establishment of production contracts, and the management of supplier and material manufacturing process changes and performance.
Be responsible for the material specifications, evaluation and performance criteria, and inspection methods to ensure current, completeness, and efficacy of the material, and alignment with the goals and objectives of the U.S. Currency Program.
Serve as project manager for development and evaluation of material acquisitions, including acquisition strategy, market research, statement of work, technical evaluation criteria; and conducting technical evaluations of proposals.
Participate in contract negotiations.
Establish project plans, timelines, communications and risk management plans; provides overall project leadership.
Serve as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for specialized, mission essential technical material(s) used in the manufacture and production of U.S. Currency and other BEP security documents, responsible for the technical contract administration, overseeing and monitoring supplier and material performance for various types of contracts.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience for the GS-13: Specialized experience is one year of experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent in other public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience includes:
Leading project-based assignments including developing project plans timelines, communications and risk management plans; AND
Monitoring and documenting compliance with program requirements for process, procedure, or product; AND
Reviewing technical reports prepared by others and providing feedback; AND
Presenting technical findings to senior leadership and/or external stakeholders.
Education
Individual Occupational Requirements for the Physical Scientist:
A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Individual Occupational Requirements for the Chemist:
A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
