Duties
As a EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (BIOMEDICAL MAINTENANCE), GS-1670-12, you will revise preventative maintenance and calibration cycles based on Army guidance, regulations, manufacturers' literature, and local conditions. Serve as the automated maintenance system manager for the maintenance operation to include all data files and reports that pertain to medical maintenance services and equipment readiness within the area of responsibility. Develop and update standard operating procedures, system level procedures and work instructions as required, and explains work requirements, methods, policies, and procedures. Repair electronic, pneumatic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical medical equipment to include troubleshooting, identifying source of problem(s), and replacement of defective printed circuitboard(s), discrete component(s) or other parts as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned.

This is a Title 5 Excepted Service position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

Supervisor for this position is MAJ Jennifer Renninger.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience with biomedical equipment standards, patient safety parameters, and regulatory requirements outlined in Federal and state guidelines, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Health Care Facilities Handbook (applies to medical equipment and the medical environment), applicable Army guidance and regulations, applicable Code of Federal Regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) guidelines, Emergency Care Research Institute (ECRI) information, Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs), and original manufacturers' literature.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate at least 36 months experience on both field and sustainment level medical equipment service requirements. Experience with the functional acceptability of equipment, validity of testing procedures and data, and legality of operation of the equipment within manufacturer-specified parameters. Experience with providing technical support for medical equipment in order to maintain and improve the quality of health care for readiness of soldiers, in a natural disaster or in a deployed environment.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
