Duties
You will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining liaison with military, federal, and local agencies concerning airspace utilization, flying operations, aircraft emergencies, search and rescue operations, and natural disasters.
You will process flight plans, conducting necessary research and/or queries in the coordination of scheduled flights.
You will monitor radio navigational aids, maintains flight plan information for all aircraft movement, consisting of inbound, outbound, and local flights.
You will compile data and conducts analysis to facilitate and continually improve airfield operations, to include information and management channels, programs, and devices.
You will conduct Airfield inspections and checks for compliance with regulations and to identify hazards on airfield.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Flight-line Driver’s License per AR 95-2.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active dut
- This position requires irregular hours of work, and rotating shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays with high periods of stress. Subject to changes in shift assignments following regulated notice periods.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10% of the time.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
- Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign a DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing. A job offer to an applicant who is not a current employee will be withdrawn if the applicant refuses to be tested.
- Applicants with verified positive results shall be refused employment.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and periodic medical examinations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes examining flight plans to determine need for special handling of aircraft arriving or departing and briefing pilots on the correct routes and altitudes to fly ensuring noise abatement procedures, Local Flying Rules, as well as Airfield Standing Operating Procedures and Airfield Operating Manual Procedures are observed. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Air Traffic Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
