This Secretary position is located at the Dayton VA Medical Center with the Engineering Service. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of administrative and office automation duties for the service that includes interacting with internal and external customers, developing and maintaining records, and reviewing and analyzing reports via data analysis.

Utilizes computer for word-processing (Microsoft Word), electronic spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), presentations (Microsoft PowerPoint), and electronic mail via Microsoft Outlook and Veterans Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) on a daily basis to generate correspondence, reports and other required documents.
Manages staff calendars and meeting management through meeting reservations, invites, agendas, and minutes for Engineering Service programs, projects, and taskforces.
Coordinates and maintains calendar and schedules appointments and meetings.
Serves as customer service representative in answering phones and general emails.
Receives telephone calls and visitors, screening those that can be handled without assistance.
Develops, maintains, and monitors integrated reporting systems.
Serves as time keeper
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/13/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS- 6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: prepares routine correspondence, edits letters, composes letters and reports, reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, prepares presentation outlines/ agendas and replies to inquiries using computer programs. Acts as customer service representative when answering telephone, refers visitors, or provides information about the Service and its functions. Assigns and routes service requests to appropriate shops when they are submitted in work order system and serves as primary timekeeper
Typing Proficiency: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

Physical Requirements: Works primarily occurs in an office setting at a workstation and occasionally a test bench. However, there is some walking, standing, reaching, stooping, crawling, crouching, carrying of light items (25 pounds or less), and negotiating cramped working areas.
