DUTIES:
The position serves as an engineering lead for weapon to platform integration and weapon lifecycle sustainment engineering for air-delivered nuclear weapons activities within the Nuclear Systems Integration Division, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center. The Division executes USAF's roles in Joint Nuclear Weapon Lifecycle activities for the air-delivered components of the United States' nuclear triad. The selected candidate will lead activities establishing and maintaining nuclear weapon capabilities and tactical/strategic delivery platform integration. Incumbent provides technical leadership in efforts to define weapon and integrated weapons systems requirements, translate requirements into design and certification criteria, evaluate design and assessment approaches, and support the integration of weapons with Air Force delivery platforms. Principle areas of focus include weapon qualification and certification, effective weapon performance with designated delivery platforms, and impacts to weapon safety, surety and reliability.
The incumbent works with a broad range of weapon program stakeholders including National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), and Aircraft and Cruise Missile platform System Program Offices (SPO) to refine weapon interface requirements and documentation, validate platform interface designs, and document integration successes across a spectrum of assessment, evaluation and test activities to include emerging simulation and digital engineering methodologies. Weapon Integration Engineers provide technical oversight on sustaining engineering and surveillance efforts including Technical Reviews, Test Plans, Test Reports, Engineering and Technical Assistance Requests and technical evaluations. When required, leads Special Studies to review proposed weapon or platform design changes for impacts to weapon performance and reliability. Duties culminate in the ability to advise senior leadership and Lead Program Officers (LPO) on integration and sustainment activities, identify and manage weapon to platform compatibility issues, and track weapon system reliability and effectiveness risks and mitigation efforts. This position qualifies for situational telework; regular access to classified systems is required.

- Technical Master’s Degree Desired.
- Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management “Practitioner” certification category within required timeframe after appointment.
- Occasional travel is required. Travel may account for up to 20% of the time.
- Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period.
- Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
- Incumbent may be required to report to work during base exercises, contingencies, or emergency situations and overtime/comp time/credit hours may be required to accomplish assigned duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary professional engineering theories, concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge and experience in general engineering fields with demonstrated mastery in the areas of structures, electronics and/or mechanical systems.
Experience with development or sustainment engineering methodologies.
Knowledge of continuous process improvement strategies and applications.
Knowledge of logistics and program management.
Ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of weapon system stakeholders to include: Nuclear Enterprise personnel from the Departments of Energy and Defense; Air Force Air Staff, MAJCOM Staff, AFNWC Staff/Wings/Divisions; field level users and their respective support agencies.
Ability to orally present and express ideas, information and concepts clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience.
Experience in preparing quality reports to include supported recommendations, meaningful program information, written summaries and results from synthesized data and/or metric analysis.
Ability to establish effective working relationships among team members; demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills.
Expertise in tracking program status, delays and opportunities. Ability to establish integration project/program goals, objectives, and completion strategies.
Experience with weapon system programs and ability to interpret nuclear weapon and related nuclear enterprise policies.
Desirable for applicant to have knowledge of aging weapon systems and Nuclear Safety Certification Procedures.
Monitors, and analyzes applicable statistical data and/or reports to track program status, evaluates results and applies them to strategic goals, and plan improvements.
