As a Executive Assistant you will serve as the expert advisor to the Chief of Staff by providing technical and administrative guidance and assistance in matters of operations management.

Duties

Directs and maintains administrative operations in the Office of the Chief of Staff. Provides management officials with technical advice on proposed policies and procedural changes. Conducts analytical studies and other special projects relating to all facets of VA operations. Plans, coordinates, and directs conferences, meetings, briefings and special events dealing with all VA subjects and external stakeholders. Serve as primary travel coordinator to the Chief of Staff.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel Management's group coverage qualification standards, associated individual occupational requirements (IOR), and individual qualification standards covering white collar occupations in the Federal competitive service can be found here. To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-12) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves (1) Preparing official travel for management; (2) Monitoring administrative activities for an office; (3) Providing technical advice on procedural changes to management; (4) Reviewing correspondence for management signature. GS- 14 To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-13) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves (1) Serving as primary travel coordinator for an office; (2) Participating in meetings on behalf of higher management; (3) Providing technical advice on procedural changes to management; (4) Maintaining the calendar for the Chief of Staff.

Education


There is no educational substitution for the GS-13 and GS-14 level.
