Duties
The Office of Housing provides vital public services through its nationally administered programs. It oversees the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the largest mortgage insurer in the world, and regulates important parts of the housing industry. The Office of Housing is committed to building and preserving healthy neighborhoods and communities through homeownership, rental housing and healthcare opportunities.
The Office of Multifamily Housing is responsible for the overall management, development, direction and administration of HUD's Multifamily Housing Programs. HUD's Multifamily programs provide mortgage insurance to HUD-approved lenders to facilitate the construction, substantial rehabilitation, purchase and refinancing of multifamily housing projects. MFH is widely responsible for production, asset management and portfolio oversight, and recapitalization of assisted properties, and field operations. As part of the National Housing Act of 1934, Congress created the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) which later became a part of the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Office of Housing in 1965.
This position is located in the Office of Housing, Multifamily Housing Programs, Office of Multifamily Production, Technical Support Division.
As a Director, Technical Support Division, you will:
-Define broad policy objectives of the Division to effectuate legislative, regulatory, and administrative goals, policies, and procedures with respect to the assigned programs.
-Direct the development of criteria, instructions, and guidelines to achieve the goals and mission of the Division.
-Direct the development and implementation of training curricula for use by Headquarters and field staff with respect to the program and operational/jurisdiction of the Division.
-Serve as the principal advisor to the Office Director regarding the programs for which the Division is responsible.
-Provide information, advice, and guidance to Congressional representatives, Departmental officials, representatives from other governmental agencies, and other clients regarding programs administered by the Division.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To be qualified for this position at the GS-15 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level. This experience is defined as:
- Experience leading or managing a team of employees and monitoring their progress towards achieving project goals and objectives related to multi-family housing mortgage finance programs; AND
- Experience advising on policies and regulations relating to multi-family housing mortgage finance programs; AND
- Experience writing policies or procedures for a multi-family housing mortgage program
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
