About the Position: Incumbent will serve as the Garrison's Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding sports programing and management, by providing guidance and leadership for sports related activities and events. Responsible for planning, coordinating, publicizing and administering a recurring, comprehensive sports program annually, for a large and diverse community of active-duty and retired military service members, civilians and their family members.

Duties

Schedules and/or conducts training clinics for sports officials, coaches and sports instructors Develops an Annual Operating Budget for Sports and Fitness programs Gathers customer feedback from surveys and/or comment cards to improve programs. Administers a Sports and Fitness Program that provides a variety of quality fitness programing. inspects Sports and Fitness facilities to ensure that personnel are practicing in accordance with established Safety procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

  • National Agency Check With Written Inquiries (NACI) (Tier 1) is required
  • One year Supervisory Probationary period may be required
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes administering a sports and fitness program; planning and coordinating competitive sports activities; and providing instruction on various fitness programs such as: cross-fit training, aerobics, personal training. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityFinancial ManagementManaging Human ResourcesPlanning and EvaluatingProject Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
