Duties
You will manage the public affairs program for the installation, and serve as the action officer for planning and execution of local media relations, engagement and outreach efforts.
You will draft responses, speeches, or other written materials for internal and external audiences, and create videos, photos and graphics for use on web sites and social media platforms.
You will coordinate strategic communications and public information for the installation.
You will serve as senior on-scene public affairs representative or coordinator during emergency situations to provide information to local, national and international media.
You will develop relationships with media representatives to ensure readiness of public affairs outlets.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing the public affairs program for an installation or program, and providing public affairs support to senior leadership; 2) Managing, providing professional guidance, reviews, and/or exercising technical direction in the areas of media relations, community engagement, and public information; 3) Advising on policies and/or procedures designed to stimulate good will and to foster good community relations; 4) Developing and/or coordinating special programs, events, ceremonies with stakeholder engagement and/or news coverage, often under tight deadlines; and 5) Advising directors and others directly involved with activity operations on handling problems related to the command's programs with potential media interest. NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for this position.
GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Supporting the public affairs program for an installation or program; 2) Writing articles and speeches for the commanding officer; 3) Preparing and publishing photos, videos and graphics using web site content management systems and social media tools; and 4) Coordinating special events, ceremonies and/or news coverage, often under tight deadlines.

Education
In lieu of experience, education may be substituted at the following grade level:
GS-11:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree;
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;
or
LL.M., if related.
