THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1436000 and is part of the IL 183 WG, National Guard.

Duties

As a ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), GS-0303-4/5/6, you will serve as the focal point, local authority and expert source for information in providing a wide variety of orderly room/administrative support for the organization. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Serve as the focal point, local authority and expert source for information for all administrative functions to include correspondence and messages; records documentation management; printing and duplication; publication and forms management; reference library; special orders; receipt, storage and control of classified documents; on the job training programs for both technicians and unit military personnel; and Personnel Concepts III (PCIII) program. Work in security clearances, personnel data control, force management, officer performance reports, training requirements, awards and decorations; inspecting administrative files, publications and procedures in other functional areas; manage the preparation, publication, distribution and tracking of civilian and military travel orders; annual training, special training, and other orders, to include special authorizations and reconciles the orders process with the workday accounting program to ensure validation of orders requirements; performing and directing the preparation, distribution and accounting of all schedules, directives, maintenance orders, procedures, passports and summaries; and monitoring a correspondence and reports suspense system. Identify and research a wide variety of administrative problems to determine the best solution when there is not one absolutely correct or appropriate solution and recommends course of action to be followed. Give briefings to new personnel on computer operations and performs demonstrations as required. Work with the end-user to explain characteristics of appropriate office automation tools and provide guidance in their application. Evaluative judgment, relate to a full variety of administrative functions impacting the organization and have a substantial impact on program direction. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for daily network operations including identifying issues and resolving problems and documenting the problem history and solution. Install and configure application software to run on stand-alone computers or networked systems for networked "commercial off the shelf" (COTS) software, government owned systems, and client/server networked operation systems (data set/file maintenance, established end-user client software). Perform maintenance, trouble shooting, installation, operation, and testing of microcomputer-based systems. Work independently in planning and carrying out steps for completing assignments in accordance with established office instructions and practices. Use own initiative and judgement to resolve and coordinates efforts with other employees involved in or affected by the nonstandard procedures. Work is evaluated for conformance with policy and regulatory requirements, technical soundness, usefulness, conformance with office operating requirements and needs and for effectiveness in meeting goals.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence: The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted - May not exceed the rank of TSgt. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess the administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position; experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-06 Level MUST possess the experience, education, or training, which includes at least 9 months of performing administrative work, gathering information, compiling data and preparing reports; experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or law; experience using oral and written communication. GS-05 Level MUST possess the experience, education or training which includes at least 6 months of knowledge in general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records; experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work; experience establishing and retrieving files and information; experience using common computer software designed for word processing. GS-04 Level MUST possess the experience, education or training that includes at least 3 months of knowledge in general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records; experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work. In order to be considered qualified, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal service. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education

If you are using Education to qualify for this position, Completion of 2 academic years of education in an accredited college or university will satisfy the requirements for GS-4 positions. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience for GS-5 positions.
