THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a CHAPLAIN ASSISTANT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0986000 and is part of the IL CAO, National Guard.
Duties
As a CHAPLAIN ASSISTANT (TITLE 32), GS-0303-7, you will assist in crisis intervention, management support, and administrative support to the organization.
Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
Provide preliminary interviews and crisis debriefings for Military Technicians and Active Guard/Reserve personnel employed within the state ARNG/ANG.
Publicize availability of chaplain professional services.
Coordinate care with drill status chaplains and civilian pastoral entities to ensure services are provided according to the religious beliefs and needs of employees.
Visit organizations throughout the state, on a periodic basis, to assess chaplain training requirements of full-time support personnel and evaluates the religious support program of drill status ministry teams.
Evaluate the religious support requirements of operations and deployments/mobilizations.
Coordinate the logistical needs of religious ministry personnel with deploying unit/personnel and supporting organizations.

Review mobilization planning and operational documents for appropriate religious support provisions and makes recommendations for changes to state level regulations and operating procedures.
Provide religious support activities for worship services, funeral services and the administration of ordinances.
Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence,
The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.
Military Grades: Not to exceed the Rank of COL
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience, education, or training which indicates your ability to perform progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work which demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-7 Level MUST possess at least 1 year of experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level; experience referring services for crisis care of full-time support/deployed personnel and their families as well as personnel undergoing training; assessing chaplain training requirements of full-time support personnel and evaluating the religious support program of drill status ministry teams; assist in preparations for special events and seasonal religious services.
