The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the executive office of the Chief Curatorial and Conservation officer in the areas of procurement, purchase card management, travel coordination, administrative support, curatorial assistance, and the ongoing coordination of selected activities. This position functions as the Gallery Support Specialist to the Chief/C working closely with the Senior Advisor for Curatorial and Conservation Initiatives at the National Gallery of Art.

Qualifications
Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-0301-11. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-9 level in the Federal service, providing principal support to the executive office of the Chief Curatorial and Conservation officer in the areas of procurement, purchase card management, travel coordination, administrative support, curatorial assistance, and the ongoing coordination of selected activities.

Comprehensive analytical and evaluative ability sufficient to contributes ideas for clarifying and improving procedures manual; support work related to personnel actions and files, grant programs, meeting agendas, and other administrative matters; and maintain time and attendance records and advise supervisors and employees on leave and related policies.
Knowledge of basic art museum operations procedures, survey level history of art and basic research methods sufficient to provide basic art historical research assistance to supervisors in support of art acquisition proposals, exhibition proposals, publishing projects, collection databases, lectures, and PowerPoint presentations sufficient to provide assigned curatorial support.
Comprehensive knowledge of and demonstrated experience in executive office and administrative procedures, clerical skills (typing, formatting, filing, tracking, use of Microsoft Office programs), executive calendar maintenance, English grammar, budget tracking, purchasing/procurement processes, travel arrangements and trip account settling sufficient to provide a few administrative tasks in support of the executive office of the Chief Curatorial and Conservation Officer.
Knowledge of and ability to perform the major duties required of an administrative support position in an art museum, and the procedures and nature of the work supervised by the Chief Curatorial and Conservation Officer, the Curatorial Affairs Officer, the curatorial and conservation divisions, as well as the processes for realizing exhibitions, publications, grants, and the art acquisition process.
Knowledge of basic art museum operations procedures, survey level history of art and basic research methods sufficient to provide basic art historical research assistance to supervisors in support of art acquisition proposals, exhibition proposals, publishing projects, collection databases, lectures, and PowerPoint presentations sufficient to provide assigned curatorial support.
