The primary purpose of this position is to as an Air Reserve Technician (ART), responsible for staff guidance, and management of operational and training programs for assigned units.
Duties
Provides and advocacy of enlisted aircrew activities of subordinate flying units to include unit aircrew flight currency and ground training programs.
Provides staff oversight over aircraft operations and resources.
Creates trend analysis/status reports for assigned specialty and flying units and provides them to management.
Provides coordination on aircrew waivers relating to special mission sorties, specific home station training programs, and deployments with special mission capabilities of subordinate units.
Participates as an aircrew member/instructor/evaluator, in incumbent's specialty area in assigned aircraft.
Coordinates with Senior Enlisted Aircrew Functional Area Manager on quantity and type of student quotas, and monitors utilization of specialized proficiency flying training associated with conversions and/or modifications to assigned aircraft.

- Position may or will require incumbent to Fly in military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments
- Required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes stems which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the position being filled. Specialized experience is experience assessing and improving a variety of organizational operations plans and programs and preparing data for senior leader briefings. Applying analytical and evaluative methods and procedures. Evaluating the effectiveness of actions in area related to organization structure, missions, programs, and organization relationships, program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones. Analyzing and devising solutions to issues and problems of the major operations issues, program goals, objectives, work processes, and functions of the organization. Applying aircrew and evaluation responsibilities for specialty specific operating principles and characteristics of major aircraft systems and their controls, panels, and indicators, systems, and equipment.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., related degree from an accredited college or university NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of operating principles and characteristics of major aircraft systems and their controls, panels, and indicators, systems, and equipment in accomplishing functions in aerial refueling, loading and off-loading, or flight engineering operations.
Knowledge of aircraft capacity and limitations, weight and balance factors to provide the optimum center of gravity throughout the flight and procedures for preparing cargo for loading, unloading, and aerial delivery missions.
Knowledge of the interrelationships among aircraft systems and skill in diagnosing problems and reporting detailed symptoms and conditions in terms of flight safety.
Skill in analyzing operating conditions, diagnosing problems, determining alternate procedures and or initiating corrective actions.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to coordinate and accomplish assigned tasks, prepare documents, reports, evaluations, and present training/instruction, and brief passengers and crews.
Ability to use a personal computer and software to use email, prepare documents, reports, and evaluations, and accomplish staff duties.
Other Significant Facts:
Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to full participate in unit training assemblies.
The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent by be assigned some non-ART duties, generally no to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
As necessary, to meet special or essential unscheduled activities, may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty with brief advance notice.
May be required to travel in military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
Must be a qualified instructor/evaluator and aircrew member.
As an air reserve technician responsible for staff guidance and management of operational and training programs for assigning units additionally provides evaluation and training to reservists in the accomplishment of task set forth herein.
Must be qualified instructor evaluator and air crew member on flying status in unit to which attached number.
Must attain and maintain mission-ready status at the appropriate crew qualification level in a unit assigned aircraft as prescribed by regulation must take and pass written and invite standardization/evaluation examinations.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
