About the Position: Serves as Data Scientist within Data Division, Architecture, Data, and Standards Directorate, Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA). Data Division is the integrator of financial, technological, knowledge management, and enterprise architecture initiatives and has overall responsibility for portfolio management, strategic planning and strategic performance planning and analysis for Army programs in the OCIO.
Duties
Inform leadership and staff on technical tools, methodologies, and resources for conducting studies and analyzing classified and unclassified information.
Educate the organization on developed methods, models, and tools to drive organizational buy-in.
Define clear and actionable problem statements to help teams deliver results while displaying a comprehensive understanding of ontologies and optimized data models.
Identify significant problems and future needs, seek root causes, and develop practical courses of action and timely solutions.
Prioritize the near-term Ontology and Data Modeling roadmap to deliver on business/mission outcomes, quickly identify leverage points in complex problems.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement for Data Scientist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses (30 semester hours) equivalent to a major field of study as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. NOTE- Transcripts are required.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying judgment to foresee the impact of changing technology to resolve complex issues or problems; performing extensive analysis of volumes of data to facilitate the data development lifecycle, design, and implementation; and utilizing advanced data science methods to serve as a consultant and senior technical advisor.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
