This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for a senior Data Scientist position located in the Digital Battlespace Management Division (RDCBI) of the Chemical and Biological Technologies Department within DTRA's Research and Development Directorate.
Duties
As a DATA SCIENTIST at the GS-1560-13/14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
As a senior Data Scientist in the Digital Battlespace Management Division (RDCBI) of the Chemical and Biological Technologies Department, the incumbent curates, analyzes, and integrates complex and varied CBDP data, using advanced tools and techniques, to enable development of data-dependent capabilities for the DoD and its CBDP mission partners.
Identifies the requirement for and initiates, plans and executes CBDP data curation, analysis and integration efforts. Leads identification, access and integration of relevant CBDP data from numerous DoD, interagency, commercial and public sources.
Supports the development and enhancement of CBDP information-based modeling capabilities. Assesses capabilities of new and/or enhanced CBDP analysis tools, techniques and systems including AI/ML-based applications.
Conducts oversight of the overall planning, direction and timely execution of assigned S&T projects. Prepares execution plans for program planning, development and transition. Searches for and evaluates program and scientific documents to determine effect on assigned programs.

Qualifications
1. You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Expert knowledge and experience (5+ years) of data-focused information systems including database management, data mining and computer programming, and specialized knowledge of chemical and/or biological datasets
Expertise and comprehensive understanding of cloud solutions for data; data tools and playbooks; and the curation of data to harness AI/ML techniques
Expertise in data preparation methods such as feature creation/extraction, metadata tagging, exploratory data analysis, model creation, data visualization and application of AI/ML techniques
Expert knowledge and experience (5+ years) with data science and analytical methods including AI/ML and Natural Language Processing.
Extensive experience (5+ years) using one or more relevant data science programming languages such as, R, Python, SQL, MATLAB and the use of an integrated development environments such as RStudio.
Extensive experience (5+ years) using data analysis, data visualization and data reporting tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
You may qualify at the GS-13 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
