About the Position: Provides administrative support to the station's Commander and staff. Performs a variety of administrative support functions associated with information flow, military and civilian personnel, mail, and timekeeping.
Duties
Receives all visitors and incoming command telephone calls. Determines nature of call or business of visitors and takes appropriate action.
Serves as a primary or alternate publications and forms clerk responsible for ordering and distribution of those products.
Refers business matters and visitors to appropriate section/supervisor.
Provides, administrative and unclassified, information to callers upon determination of their right to receive it.
Ensures dissemination of information to responsible staff personnel who can satisfy the request.
Reviews incoming correspondence to include electronic (email), internal intranet, publications, regulations and directives which may affect the office.
Acts as the primary civilian and military personnel systems manager for employees of the MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Mail Must obtain and maintain a DD 285 Mail Handler's Card.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying military and/or civilian human resources management principles and practices such as, but not limited to, processing personnel actions, interpreting military and/or civilian human resource regulations and directives and/or organizing and maintaining personnel records/files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
