This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation) Is located at Naval Health Clinic, Quantico.
Duties
Collaborate daily with providers and staff members regarding all aspects of administrative requirements.
Responsible for incoming/outgoing correspondence in clinic or departments, as well as receiving callers, patients and visitors.
Serve as purchasing, Time Keeper, Cost Center agent for the clinic and/or department.
Independently researches, prepares and as necessary expedited requests for high dollar automated equipment and publications
Conduct surveys of equipment and ensures accountability of computer software/hardware.
Input providers' schedules daily/weekly/monthly according to the business practices set forth by the command.
Requirements
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support for medical staff to include scheduling medical appointments in an automated appointment system; performing clerical and/or receptionist duties; managing incoming/outgoing correspondence; and using office automation software including databases, spreadsheets and word processing applications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
