This position is located within the Department of Defense Office of lnspector General (DoD OIG); Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Audit. As a Student Trainee (Financial Clerk), you will be responsible for assisting teams that perform audits of DoD finance and accounting systems, or that conduct performance audits of functions and activities used to carry out DoD operations.

Duties

Conducts audits of DoD programs, functions, and missions to facilitate changes by promoting efficiency under the supervision of a full performance level team member or leader. Completes routine audit tasks. Performs fact gathering and collects data to meet requirement of defined tasks/audit steps. Researches applicable laws, directives, regulations, manuals and audit reports for data relevant to area being audited. Prepares legible and accurate work papers.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Position has been designated as Secret Security designation level. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see http://www.sss.gov).
  • Enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time or half-time student.
  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must maintain student eligibility for the duration of internship.
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

Qualifications

Requirements: Enrolled or formally accepted for enrollment as a full-time or half-time (Half-time basis is defined by the academic institution that the student is enrolled or accepted into) student into an accredited college or university in a qualifying degree-seeking program, or enrolled or formally accepted for enrollment in a qualifying certificate program; Students must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) at time of application and must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA throughout the entire Pathways Student Trainee Internship appointment to remain in the Program; Applicants MUST submit a transcript or proof of enrollment with the online application (see Required Documents for additional details). If selected, must sign a Pathways Participant Agreement; be able to furnish course registration information at the start of each school term; and be able to provide verification of academic status (official transcript) at the end of each academic term. Two years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the general experience required.

Graduate Education: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

Accreditation: Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute for experience.
