Duties
Performs maintenance, calibration, acceptance inspections, technical inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, and surveillance testing of electronic components based on regulatory guidance.
Evaluates and installs sophisticated/complex Laboratory equipment and/or systems to include (1) standalone equipment and/or components that contain integrated circuitry and/or microprocessors.
Develops surveillance techniques and procedures to use in inspecting the contractor's operations to determine efficiency and effectiveness. Resolves and/or reports instances of unacceptable performance.
TMDE Support Coordinator, control point for matters concerning calibration and repair of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 60 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Incumbent must obtain/possess the American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification to maintain for duration of employment.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position is a term position and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.

Specialized Experience - GS-09 One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Assist in repair maintenance of electronic laboratory equipment to ensure proper functionality; (2) Calibrate electronic equipment to include components and sub-assemblies; and (3) Assist testing of electronic equipment in use to determine serviceability and disposition. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Specialized Experience - GS-10 One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Maintain electronic laboratory equipment to ensure proper functionality; (2) Calibrate electronic medical equipment to include components and sub-assemblies; and (3) Test medical equipment in use to determine serviceability and disposition. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Specialized Experience - GS-11 One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Install complex laboratory equipment such as stand-alone equipment or integrated circuitry systems, monitoring the impact to total system performance; (2) Calibrate medical equipment systems to meet all regulatory guidance; (3) Identify and recommend solutions for medical equipment malfunctions and/or manufacturing defects; (4) Coordinate all operational support to Test, Measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) ensuring compliance with policy and guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
