About the Position: This Electronics Technician position is located at U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC), Warfighter Directorate with duty location of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. (merit)
Duties
Serve as an electronics technician responsible for the troubleshooting of air traffic control communications.
Serve as an electronics technician responsible for the troubleshooting of navigational aid systems.
Execute air traffic control evaluation experiments for the organization.
Provide support to an air traffic control tower for the organization.
Recommend solutions to the resolution of problems related to areas such as air traffic control communications and navigational aid systems.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Overtime will be required as needed.
- Business travel up to 15% is required.
- This position has been designated as a testing designated position, therefore requires initial drug testing and random testing thereafter.
- Must obtain and maintain Air Traffic Control (ATC) Maintenance Certification.
- Must participate in the Medical Surveillance Program.
- Must complete a Physical examination prior to hiring and annually thereafter.
- Must be able, and willing, to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, hearing protection or helmet, etc.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs or more.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Conduct testing of air traffic control systems equipment to ensure functionality; 2) Diagnose causes of air traffic control systems equipment malfunction; AND 3) Conduct training for employees on the repair of air traffic control systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower level/grade position in the federal service (NJ-03/GS-11).
