The VA Long Beach Healthcare System is currently recruiting one Supervisory Health System Specialist in the Office of the Chief of Staff in Long Beach, CA. The incumbent oversees all functions related to healthcare providers' professional credentials supporting all divisions of the VAMC in accordance with VHA Credentialing and Privileging, Directives, VA Handbooks, Policies, Memos & Notices.

Duties

This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until January 23, 2024 or until position has been filled. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be November 15, 2023, with subsequent cut-off date for referral on the 1st and 15th of each month. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Identify/present to leadership the resources necessary for accomplishing the mission and/or function of the facility's Credentialing and Privileging program. Demonstrate expertise in utilization of the VetPro credentialing system including knowledge of the credentialing and privileging process, documentation of primary source verifications, and how to audit credentialing files and/or reporting functions. Identify developmental and training needs of employees; provide or arrange for needed development and training; advocate to leadership and/or program officials for training resources. Utilize cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, and cost-utility analyses in programmatic prioritization and/or decision making. Conduct supervisory reviews of completed tasks, present information, and make recommendations on how to improve. Develop statistical, graphical, and narrative reports justifying training or changes in processes to improve systems effectiveness/efficiency and/or customer service quality. Determine appropriate actions, including those resulting from VISN and local level reviews, initial and recredentialing processes, reporting and data trends, identify issues that require further review, electronic credentialing database and/or clinical privilege maintenance. Monitor and audit the VAMC C&P program utilizing VetPro reports, mandatory auditing and reporting tools. Ensure national level reporting requirements are accurately completed, quarterly security reports, quarterly accuracy certification of the Our Provider's website, and accuracy of the VA/DoD shared provider registry. Ensure mandatory reviews and recommendations are documented in the electronic credentialing database; manage facility accounts; ensure appointed licensed providers maintain an active enrollment. Ensure information accuracy; review credentialing files for inaccuracies; manage troubleshooting efforts; take corrective actions; and conduct quarterly reviews and/or certifications. Manage enrollments, single queries and re-enrollments; prepare and submitting reports for adverse privileging actions. Utilize systems-thinking to collaborate with teams and implement process changes which align with guidance to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Credentialing, Privileging, and Professional Practice Evaluation processes. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/23/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Individual Occupational Requirements Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. or Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Qualifying specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: (1) Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; (2) Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and (3) Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. At this level, applicants would have obtained this experience working within a health care setting, working directly with clinicians and local leadership to solve problems in support of the delivery of patient care; applying organizational and system-wide strategies for continuous quality improvement; and experience running and supervising an administrative component of a health care credentialing and privileging program. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Preferred Experience: Managing a Credentialing and Privileging Staff Program Advisor for Credentialing and Privileging for ELT Expertise in Privileging process for the Licensed independent providers and Dependent Quality Assurance in Credentialing and Privileging program and provides assistance in the OPPE/FPPE process Knowledge in Credentialing and Privileging reports and telehealth provider tracking VetPro Security and Privacy compliance; State Licensing Board Reporting You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:Administration and ManagementInterpersonal SkillsLeadershipQuality AssuranceTechnical Competence Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary. Occasionally, light physical effort may be required, such as that involved with walking, stair climbing, and carrying of light office items. The work is performed in an office setting which requires normal safety precautions typical for offices and meeting rooms. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
